Current Obsessions: The Introduction

Hello, my name is Stephanie and I'm a fashion addict. Though I like to think of myself as more of a fashion "enthusiast". Constantly learning, and researching all things associated with fashion causes me to obsess over things quite often. So this will be the first of many. My most recent obsession is with fashion connoisseur Rachel Zoe. In case you live under a rock and aren't familiar with her, here is a little background info. Zoe Started out as a freelance wardrobe stylist, and made a name for herself by becoming stylist to the stars, after many years of hard work, as well as for different fashion houses, and magazines. Her work is now seen everywhere!

Ladies Is Pimps Too

"Ladies are pimps. By the term pimp, I don’t necessarily mean someone who exploits another individual for personal gain. Pimping is having all the tools needed to succeed in life. You gotta be a pimp to make it. Taking no bullshit by any means necessary. Pimps want their money on time. They want their hos in line. They want the newest and flyest shit. Pimps demand respect. Pimps exude confidence even in the most outrageous attire. I’m totally not glamorizing the life of a pimp and I’m kidding about the 'hos in line.' Nevertheless, those attributes are powerful because it shows a person’s true diligence. In any situation you always want to be the pimp, never the latter. People get pimped everyday. Everyone has been a ho or possessed ho-like qualities at least a couple of times in life. Sadly, 9 out of 10 times, the ladies are not the pimps. Ladies you need to realize that you are a pimp too and it’s okay to brush your shoulders. You have to, you got to, you need to get that dirt off your shoulder. When the next person ask me what do I aspire to become, I’m going to reply, 'a p.i.m.p.' "- Erica Freeman

The 90's was a really fun time in pop culture. Some of the biggest names in the music, fashion, & entertainment world emerged during this time. Wu-Tang Clan, Tommy Hilfiger, Martin, Lenny Kravitz, just to name a few.

Here's a quick look back at the 90's.

Weird or Stylish?

Is there really a difference between dressing weird or having style? Who gets to determine if it’s stylish? And who determines if its weird? I can answer the first question, the people that usually classify certain fashions as weird are the ones who wouldn’t do it or even think about doing it. I think it all depends on a person's individual sense of style that determines if it’s weird. For example, Lady Gaga wears some outlandish stuff and it could easily be classified as weird to everyday people since it’s not common for someone to wear in their everyday life. Though, another person may think it’s stylish and look at is as being different or creative. We say if you think it looks good then wear it! People are going to judge whether it’s good or bad. Be creative, explore your mind. This picture of Rihanna, was on a blog titled "The worst outfit of the year" to me it shows creativity in a fun way. "Hey I can wear whatever and still look good." Sometimes tradition's are made to be broken, some people like to create their own path.

Viva La Chanel!

Today marks what would be the 128th birthday of fashion legend Coco Chanel. Her name is forever noted in the fashion world because of her ability to make styles that were timeless. Making "The Little Black Dress" what it is today. Chanel believed in high fashion with a simplicity. Also starting androgynous fashions for women. Making it ok for them to wear pants, which at the time was only suitable for men. And of course we all know about her love for pearls. All of these statements remain timeless today. Famous for many quotes such as:
"the absence of color is absolute"
"a girl should be two things, classy and fabulous"
"in order to be irreplaceable one must always be different"
